On Wednesday September 8, 2021, APICS had their first in person meeting since COVID restritions were put in place. In our GBM meeting, the board members were able to introduce themselves to the APICS members old and new. It was a great opportunity to discuss everything that our organization has planned for this upcoming semester. We discussed the agendga regarding corporate events, case competitions and upcoming trips for the fall semester. Those who were not able to make it in person, attended through a zoom call and were able to watch the meeting from home and ask questions from home.
On April 19th, 2020, APICS members listened to guest speaker Mike Bassani. During this meeting Mike discussed the complexity and solutions to data, data types, and data clouds at Microsoft. He also talked about the complexity of the supply chains at Microsoft paired with the company's approach to them. It was interesting to learn the hurdles involved with supply chain at a company like Microsoft as it is rather unique. Finally, we got to have questions answered such as "How to be a competitive applicant" and "What the culture is like at Microsoft". APICS wants to thank Mike Bassani and Microsoft for this opportunity!
On March 29th, 2021, APICS had the opportunity to listen to guest speaker Alex Russo from Church & Dwight. During this meeting, Alex discussed everything that goes in to the supply chain side of Church & Dwight's operations. He did a great job at breaking down their global operations and to name a few; discussed supply and demand planning, procurement, transportation and warehousing, customer logistics and many other areas. Also discussed were aspects such as inventory planning and supply projections. The APICS members learned a lot from this meeting and want to thank our guest speaker for sharing his time with us.
On Monday March 22, 2021 APICS met with Katie Gladhill, a representative from Target. During our meeting, Katie discussed aspects such as, advancements target has made in their supply chain, customer traffic, distribution centers, different career paths and what skills and experience Target looks for as a company. We learned a lot about Target's supply chain and all of the branches in their distribution. Katie also discussed with us regarding Target's vision for distribution and consumer demands. On March 15th, 2021, APICS had the opportunity to meet with the Global Supply Manager at Apple. The guest speaker Ami Sameth talked to the group about Recruitment, his travels with the company and what it takes to work at Apple. He did a great job covering the inner workings of Apple's Supply sector. In this discussion he talked about the Procurement, legal, engineering and finance & AP aspects. This meeting was a great opportunity to see the life of an individual working for Apple and the operations that take place within the company. Make sure to keep up with APICS so you don't miss out!
On March 8th, 2021 APICS met with representatives from KPMG. In this meeting, the representatives described all of their processes including Procurement, Connected Commerce,Core Operations & Life Sciences, as well as Supply Chain & Operations.
It was very interesting to see how KPMG breaks their community down to effectively do business. Overall, KPMG is a very unique company and the APICS organization is very glad to have had the opportunity to discussions operations at KPMG. Thank you to all who attended the event!
On February 24th, 2021, representatives from PepsiCo came to meet with APICS and discuss virtual interview tactics. In the world of COVID-19 the interviewing process has changed a lot and PepsiCo gave us insight on how to prepare for this new environment. We disccussed how to construct a resume, tips on setting up a virtual interview, what values the company is looking for and how to give responses that highlight your past experiences as well as your skills. Overall, a lot of valuable insight was taken away from this meeting.
On February 17th, 2021 we had the opportunity to listen to guest speaker Anthony Zampello talk about S&OP and Master scheduling. During this event, Mr. Zampello gave a lot of insight from his expertise in the field and broke down exactly how the supply chain works. He also explained the similarities and differences of S&OP and Masterscheduling, two aspects that are often mixed up. Overall, a lot of important and helpful information was covered and the event was definitely a success!
On February 1st, 2021 we had our first career workshop. During this time well spent, we had the opportunity to discuss different skills and aspects that employers are looking for. Career services gave insight on how to market ourselves and create a desireable profile that employers are looking for. Overall, it was a very beneficial meeting with a lot of key take aways!
On January 27th, 2021 we had the first GBM of the new
semester. We were able to spend time getting to know
each other and the new E-Board members were introduced. We discussed interesting events and case competitions coming up in the near future. Make sure to stay up to date with the latest from APICS!
